Music

The following music might be of interest to unconventional Christian thought.

Robert Plant (Band of Joy) — “Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down” 2010

Former Led Zeppelin frontman, Robert Plant, singing “Satan, your kingdom must come down I heard the voice of Jesus say Satan, your kingdom must come down”.   Whether it is what Robert means or not, God chooses unexpected people to share His message about the power, the voice and Lordship of Jesus.  Amazing.

“All My Tears” – Buddy Miller at the Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville Tn on August 24, 2010

Written by Julie Miller

“When I go, don’t cry for me – in my father’s arms I’ll be,
The wounds this world left on my soul will all be healed, and I’ll be whole,
Sun and moon will be replaced with the light of Jesus’ face,
And I will not be ashamed, for my saviour knows my name.

It don’t matter where you bury me, I’ll be home and I’ll be free,
It don’t matter where I lay, all my tears be washed away.

Gold and silver blind the eye, temporary riches lie,
So come and eat from Heaven’s store; come and drink, and thirst no more,
So weep not for me, my friend, when my time below does end,
For my life belongs to him who will raise from the dead again.

It don’t matter where you bury me, I’ll be home and I’ll be free,
It don’t matter where I lay, all my tears be washed away.”

Ain’t No Grave” – Hillary Scott & The Scott Family

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Patty Griffin (Band of Joy) — “Move up” 2011

Well, I believe in my soul
And I’m going on home
Hallelujah, oh Lord, I’m moving, move up
When this life is over
I’m going to stick my sword in the sand
I’m going to go on home to Jesus
Over in glory land
I’m moving to the sky
In a heaven, on a high

Well, all my life I want to know
Is why my Jesus loved me so
Yes, oh Lord, I’m moving, move up
I’m going to move up to the sky
To my home on a high

I’m going to see my loving mother
I’m going to see my father too
I’m going to sing with the angels
Tell them how I made it through

Well, I’m going to move on up in glory
Move on up in glory
Move on up on glory
After a while

One of these mornings
And it won’t be very long
They’re going to look for me down here
And I’ll believe I’ll be going on home

I’m going to walk with my father
Settle with the son
Tell him all about this world
That I’ve come from

I’m going to see my loving mother
I’m going to see my father too
I’m going to walk around in glory
And spread the news

Well, all my life I want to know
Is why my Jesus loved me so
Yes, oh Lord, I’m moving, oh Lord
Move up, oh Lord
Move up, oh Lord
Move up, oh Lord
Move up, oh Lord

I’m going to move, move move, move, move
Move, move move, move, move
Move, move move, move, move
Move, move move, move, move

I’m going to move on up in glory
Move on up in glory
Move on up in glory
Move on up in glory
Move on up in glory
Move on up in glory
Move on up in glory
After a while

Robert Plant & Band Of Joy, AVO Session 13 And We Bid You Goodnight

“Lay down my dear brothers, lay down and take your rest
Oh won’t you lay your head upon your saviour’s breast
I love you, oh but Jesus loves you the best
And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight

Lay down my dear brothers, lay down and take your rest
Oh won’t you lay your head upon your saviour’s breast
love you, oh but Jesus loves you the best
And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight

Walking in Jerusalem just like John (bid you goodnight, goodnight)
I remember right well, I remember right well (bid you goodnight, goodnight)
His rod and his staff shall comfort me (bid you goodnight, goodnight)
Tell “A” for the ark, that wonderful boat (bid you goodnight, goodnight)
Tell “B” for the beast at the ending of the wood (bid you goodnight, goodnight)
Well it eat all the children that would not be good (bid you goodnight, goodnight)
I’m walking in Jerusalem just like John (bid you goodnight, goodnight)
Walking in the valley of the shadow of death (bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight)

Lay down my dear brothers, lay down and take your rest
Oh won’t you lay your head upon your saviour’s breast
I love you, oh but Jesus love you the best
And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight”

Sung a capella by the Grateful Dead to close many of their concerts in the late sixties and the beginning of the seventies and now by Robert Plant and the Band of Joy.  Amazing.
